Understanding Industrial Equipment and Our Manufacturing Legacy

I'm Sandra Adams, a blogger and enthusiast of many eclectic targets, including pottery and industrial equipment and supplies. I've traced my family tree as far back as I can go and there is not one moment where my family hasn't been involved in manufacturing. My dad worked as a mechanic repairing industrial machinery and if it wasn't for me, he wouldn't have anyone to pass down his knowledge to. I've always wanted to know what my dad was up to, so I'd ask him what he did everyday. I've always been really curious and this has lead me to develop a really strong understanding of industrial equipment. My love for industrial equipment hasn't waned and now I feel like sharing this knowledge with others. I've created this blog for this exact purpose.

3 Major Functions Of A Rubber Stopper

Blog

Rubber is a diverse material that is used to create many products used by both individual consumers and large corporations. One of the rubber components that you have probably interacted with numerous times is the rubber stopper.

Rubber stoppers often go unnoticed, but they play an important role in the packaging and protection of modern commodities.

Here are three major functions of a rubber stopper that you should be familiar with if you want to better appreciate these seemingly ordinary devices.

1. Shock Absorption

Perhaps the most important function of a rubber stopper is to absorb shocks and vibrations. It is critical that two objects which might damage one another if they make contact be protected from the shock of a collision.

Rubber stoppers are designed specifically to absorb the shock from a moving object so that it doesn't cause any damage to an object located in close proximity.

Common examples of rubber stoppers that specialize in shock absorption include door stoppers and stoppers for industrial machinery.

2. Hygiene

Rubber stoppers can serve a hygienic purpose when applied in certain ways. Anytime there is a tube, pipe, or other opening that must be protected against contamination, a rubber stopper is used.

The stopper is inserted into the opening and provides a tight seal. This seal prevents dust or debris from finding their way into the tube, which ensures that the interior surface of the tube remains hygienic at all times.

Many pieces of medical equipment and components used in hydraulic power systems feature rubber stoppers that ensure a high level of hygiene.

3. Aesthetics

The way that a product appears can have a direct impact on the way consumers perceive that product within the marketplace. Products that have cylindrical components can often look unfinished.

Manufacturers utilize rubber stoppers to enhance the overall aesthetic of these components and to prevent them from sustaining damage over time. You will see rubber stoppers applied to the bottom of furniture legs, on the ends of crutches and walkers, and on tubes that contain electronic elements inside.

The rubber stoppers hide the unfinished edges of the tubes, making them appear more aesthetically pleasing to the consumer.

Something as small and simple as a rubber stopper can have a significant impact on the way a product looks and functions. Manufacturers are capable of making rubber stoppers in a wide range of sizes, shapes, and compositions to help meet your needs.
